Gifts for the Givers
Hopefully by now, the Thanksgiving turkey is just a memory, and you’ve come to realize it is holiday crunch time. There’s the house to decorate, cards to order, lists to make, gifts to shop for, gifts that need shipping, cookies to bake, a tree to buy….WAIT! Life is Sweet….remember? We’re here to help.
Over the next several weeks, our blog will be jam packed with gift giving and stocking ideas, rules to play dreidel, candy crafts and suggestions to make your holidays joyful, merry and bright! Not frustrating, tense and stressful.
This week, let’s figure out gifts for the givers. These are the people who may not be at the center of your life, but they absolutely make our lives better, more efficient, safer and smarter! Make your own life easier by giving gifts in one category to cut down endless stops, figure out your budget and, if possible, use delivery service.
I was a teacher for years and loved personal, inexpensive gifts like a picture or heartfelt note. Mugs were nice, but after the first 2 or 3, the remaining mugs became yard sale fodder. The gifts that evoked the most excitement though were, hands down, consumables. Chocolate ranked number one due to its dual function of calming me emotionally and giving me that caffeine sugar rush when it was most needed. However, candy in any form was a welcome present. Take the stress off yourself and let Life is Sweet wrap up a pretty little package of fudge or chocolates for the teacher you can’t find words enough to thank.
Chances are you don’t get to see your postman or woman very often. You’ll need something small that you can just pop into your mailbox and leave as a special surprise. There can be no better gift for this than a cupcake. Get one in seasonal colors, adorable packaging and a note to say Merry Christmas and thank you.
These men and women often go without any special thanks or recognition, despite often providing for their communities. However, if you’ve ever been in need of their services, you know the immense gratitude and respect they deserve. Fudge is the perfect gift. You can order a one and a half pound package in penuche, chocolate, peanut butter or chocolate peanut butter flavors. Fire men and women can cut off a piece for a quick burst of energy at this busy time of the year. Best of all, Life is Sweet will deliver it for you in the Keene area. One less stop-hooray!
It’s a tough time to wear the blue these days. Show our officers they are appreciated, respected and remembered with a special candy treat. Did you know Life is Sweet sells bulk candy in half pound, one pound and two pound sizes? So whether you just want to pick up something special for the local constable or for the entire force, Life is Sweet can help!
It doesn’t matter if your babysitter is 14 or 40, they will welcome the chance to sit down with a cup of cocoa or coffee and some lovely chocolates or a cupcake. Encourage them to take some times to pamper themselves with a gift card for Life is Sweet. With its pretty view of Main Street, a place to sit and relax, Life is Sweet is a respite in the middle of shopping and errands.
Again, this group doesn’t usually come to mind unless you need them. But anyone who has ever had a loved one in the hospital at the holidays knows the staff could certainly use some sweets to cheer them up. On December 2nd (that’s Friday of this week!) Life is Sweet will be selling our goodies in the community room of the Cheshire Medical Center. We can also arrange for mail order fudge for those who cannot get out and shop and deliver gifts.
Technically, this group may not be community helpers, but keeping a stash of nostalgic candies in your desk means you won’t be embarrassed when the intern that just started a week ago gives you a gift card for Starbucks. You can just reach in and pull out some fabulous, out of the ordinary sweet and reciprocate kindly.
You…or me…or a friend
Is it a gift if you buy it for yourself? Does it matter? You’ve been so busy doing for others, wouldn’t it be nice to take a minute for yourself. Do your one stop shopping at Life is Sweet, order yourself a warming cup of cocoa or coffee or tea and breathe. Just breathe and remember it’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year!
Keep the merry in Christmas, the Happy in Hanukkah.
Remember life is short…so make it sweet!
